NightRaven
Or are those simply a couple of the better skirmish/random battles that happen? If so, where in the Allied campaign is the huge town level that you play in the demo. That map was always a lot of fun.
kermix
I didn't see the demo... but if the first demo mission starts with just one unit, then you're looking at the first mission in the game. I'm betting that the other mission is also an early one in the full game, in either North or South Britain.
Paranoid Jack
I don't recall seeing the Allies Demo Map in the retail realease and I have yet to play the Axis side more then a couple maps that is. So I highly doubt the demo maps are in there. Which is nice. I wonder if there is a thread on how to import them from the demo to the retail versions? You're right the Allies town level is a good one. It sure sold me on purchasing the retail version before I even played the awesome train level for the Axis side,
Richard
The Axis-train map is in the full game, but not playable? If you let the game alone for a few minutes (main menu) then a demo will start playing. Yesterday that demo was on the train-map... Pretty cool to watch. Try it, but don't touch the mouse... kermix
If any of you have actually played the free demo version of the game, help us out here and solve the mystery, please. I did a little digging in the editor, because it has a list of maps, and there are in fact two maps listed under a "DEMO" section: they are labelled "Railroad Bridge" (ID 4012) and "Destructed City" (ID 4174). I mention their ID#s (or what I believe to be their ID#s) because, if they are not actually missions in the game, the only way to access them would be to use a (probably unsupported?) console command to set up a non-standard mission, and you need the map's ID# in order to access it from the console. Check the left-hand navigation bar on S2HQ Home for console commands. I am tempted to try out the multiplayer hotseat mode with an opposing AI squad for the sake of checking those maps out on my own terms. They do look nice. Paranoid Jack
The demo levels are in the full game as demos only. Meaning if you are at the menu screen long enough the game runs a demo on it's own if you don't touch the mouse, right? Well to add these demo levels to your retail game just follow these directions ( https://www.s2hq.com/articles.php?lng=en&pg=269 ) and choose the demo levels from the demo folder instead of an existing random encounter maps. It works and they call it a "random map generator" (on the US versions box anyway). It's just random encounters... but you can add some extending game-time this way. I added the Ruined City map (I think it is) and the only funny thing that happened was it automatically raised all my teams levels by two and my main character by one. I think most or all of the team was level 2 already.
Paranoid Jack
Forgive me, I posted before I had finished playing the Ruined City level I added into the campaign. Good news... they are very playable. Bad news... you can not exit the map/level back to your campaign with the added level/experience gained. I am sure this could be solved easily by somebody with a working knowledge of the scripting. But not me... I had played it part of the way through previously but only recently finished the Ruined City level (in the retail game) due to starting a new campaign with a different squad set-up. I dropped the Engineer since they seem to be useless in my opinion, of course. I only needed an Engineer a couple times in my run through the Allies campaign. It's my opinion that the class is not fleshed out enough in the game. The Engineer should be able to cut fences (hell they all should be able to do that) and set remote detonating devices. I know there are a lot of items like Hank Of Wire & Wire Cutters I found no use for in the game.... just wish there were a few more items that would have made tactics a slight more enjoyable, not that it wasn't already. I know some of this should have been another thread. Again, forgive me.
