Schatten
In most WWII games, Germans main rifle was named Kar98. So are these two rifles the same rifle, only different names?
Norfleet
The Kar98 is the Mauser K98k/98k. This is the WW2 Mauser 98K, the Mauser 98 commonly referenced in WW2 games. There's also an older, longer, Mauser G98, that was used in WW1, but was replaced by the K98k as primary battle rifle in 1935.

Norfleet
It helps that I happen to own a crateload of the things...literally. They're in a crate, in the back. I say this about a lot of different guns, which I also happen to own in crateloads. Except the MP-40 Schmeissers, I own several crateloads of those. Original SS packaging and shipping bill. Unfortunately, I don't know German, so I have no clue what exactly it's about.

Schatten
In the game, Mauser M98 is Kar 98k... the full name is Mauser Kar 98k. After checking several sites... I confirmed it.

Used by German mountain and paratroop divisions, some have a metal attachment on the left side to assist mountain and ski troops." https://www.rememuseum.org.uk/arms/rifles/armmoc.htm

TeRmInAtOr
Hi guys.I'm from germany and can tell you that the Kar stands for Karabiner(carabine) and it was the main weapon of the german Wehrmacht used in many varieties, though I'm absolutely no WW2 expert.Mauser was a rifle designer like Kalashnikov from russia.More infos will give you two links I found with google. https://www.gunsandammomag.com/rugers_guntalk/guntalk/ https://directory.google.com/Top/Recreation...3_Springfields/ How much zoom would they got with this funny little scope?https://www.dhm.de/lemo/objekte/pict/ak003578/
Schatten
How much zoom would they got with this funny little scope? https://www.dhm.de/lemo/objekte/pict/ak003578/ I wonder how they even aim with that thing on it. Looking throught the scope at this length, your view will be a small little circle and I don't think people will hold the rifle alittle back, just to place their head near the scope. Pain
I have some other additional information for you guys. I'm some kind of a weapons expert... The "Deutsches Gewehr Modell 98 (Mauser)" (that is the full name of the M98) is, as mentioned before, a weapon mainly used in WWI, but also in some units in WWII. Gewehr means rifle and is longer than a carabine. It was about 1.25m in lenght, which is extremly long for a small arm weapon. The "Deutsches Gewehr Modell 98k" (k stays for "kurz" which means short) was the carabine-version and was only 1.11m in size. It was the main weapon for the German soldier during WWII. For the 33/40 version I have no additional info, as all has been said before.
Oddball_E8
well in my new mod (coming out in about a week or two) i have replaced the 33-40 rifles with "kar98k" rifles...i have used the polish mauser m29 for the regular kar98k and the standard kar98ksniper for the sniper version...the 33-40 sniper is still there, but the regular 33-40 rifle is gone completely. Pain
Why do you replace the 33-40? Don't you like that weapon?
