ShadowHunter
What does it do? I don't notice any effects from it, except that my knife familiarity dropped by 2 by the time I emptied a stationary machine gun for burst skill :?
Arach
The most Fam. I saw on a gun was my Soldier with 11 with his MG42(I think), it seems to add directly to chance to hit and reduce recoil. Fritz could consistantly kill a Soldier with a 3 shot burst from '25 Run' grids away. So it seems great for Soldiers, Snipers and just gravy for less combat oriented classes. My Scout never had though due to always swapping between a Katana, Silenced Pistol and a Silenced SMG.
ShadowHunter
I'm playing solo on allies with impossible difficulty So I'm trying to up my skills with anything I can get my hands on. Those stationary machine guns are great for getting burst skill up  Where did you get the katana? I'm trying to go through this time without cheating, and that crappy knife you get at the start isn't that great
Arach
Where did you get the katana? A Rare encounter in North Britain. You have around 8 or so Renegade "Ninjas" who Hide and throw Grens and Shurikens. They're lead by a Japanese guy with a Blue hat, he has the Katana. The 'map' was the small section of dirt Road that curves from South to East.
ShadowHunter
Are you sure it affects accuracy? I had the same % chance to hit a dead body with my knife at 4 familiarity & at 0, after I used other weapons and lowered it.The skills add to accuracy though...perhaps that's what changed your accuracy? Biggles
According to Nival it changes your 'To Hit' chance. Not sure if this is part of the behind the scenes calculations or the value you see though.
ShadowHunter
Ok nevermind I noticed a 1% difference between a familiarity of 5 & 0..Which means that it's almost entirely useless and can be ignored
Biggles
i woulodn't say that it's entirely useless... my characters had a definate benifit later in the game when useing weapons I was familiar with. It's just I'm not a real 'stats' player, I play by feel more than numbers.
ShadowHunter
I never manage to get higher than 3 familiarity throughout my axis campaign with a full team. I had everyone using sniper rifles, then after first shot usually ends with everyone switching to MGs and shooting the hell out of the buildings while missing the enemies :lol:It's too hard to keep up when you use more than 1 weapon. Basher
Ok nevermind I noticed a 1% difference between a familiarity of 5 & 0..Which means that it's almost entirely useless and can be ignored  well, I have no evidence of this, but I think, my scout hits better at greater distances with a fam. of only 2. I guess, even if the to-hit-chance-indicator says "xx%", agood fam. might add here.Example: With a fam of 0 the percentage of to-hit-chance was always true; I mean, if there was 30% shown, I hit almost for nothing. Now, one out of three short bursts hits and kills. Nevertheless, nobody seems to know exact data about this. I really like to know, how to raise fam. I took all the available perks, avoid weapon swapping etc. Highest fam I've seen so far was at scout (2) and sniper (3) shortly before the endgame. ShadowHunter
Actually I forgot to mention that the 5 point difference was tested on impossible mode. Maybe that's whats lowering the accuracy increase? :?Was using a katana to test this out
Alaeth
Where did you get the katana? A Rare encounter in North Britain. You have around 8 or so Renegade "Ninjas" who Hide and throw Grens and Shurikens. They're lead by a Japanese guy with a Blue hat, he has the Katana. The 'map' was the small section of dirt Road that curves from South to East.I hated that one, bad spot lead my eniter team into the middle of them... those grenades hurt. A lot. If you do find it, grab the Shurikens, they do great damage at close range for only 6APs
ShadowHunter
I'm using a scout right now My throwing is at 1xx. Only takes 3 AP to throw, plus I took the longer range throw skill, so it's even better than a silenced SMG
Agrotis
I really like to know, how to raise fam. That is a veery simple question to answer. Just select the gun wich you want to have high fam with and then goto somewhere and just start to shoot around... simple as that. At this moment at the axis campaining dificulty hard, I have my scout using an stg 43 familiarity is 10 my sniper also has familiarity 10 my assault has familiarity at 10 Olli has 7 and engineer and the medic both have 5 I thinki
