boltman
Hi guys, I'm new in here, so I hope youl'll bear with me if I ask a quick question in my first post...... A very kindly Belorussian friend has just returned from his homeland and given me a copy of the game as a prezzie because, he said, "it looks like the sort of thing you'd like". Anyway, he didn't realise the game doesn't have an English option, and not being a Russian speaker I'm stumbling around in the game wondering wtf is going on. I give up in frustration and look on the net and find this lovely site! Lo and behold, I find out there is a mod to change the text into english because all the english is already included in the russian game, but can I find the mod?, can I hell!!.Maybe I'm just thick, so can one of you helpfull chaps point me towards it?It doesn't seem to be in the "files" section, or maybe I'm just blind! Thanks.
Biggles
Ok, the tricj here is that there is not a 'mod' to do this. It's a hack. All you need to do is load ANY mod created before the patch and the game will turn into english! You see, it's actually a bug in the russian version that we are exploiting. The best mod to use is the SaveGame mod, which IS in the files section. Note, you can't patch the game! If you do, it FIXES the bug in the russian version and the mods wont turn the game english any more. I hope this helps.
Wicky
And how to install the mod, read here: I downloaded the SaveAnywhere mod and found a folder called Silent StormMod with an existing sample mod inside. But to my BIG surprise, when I installed the SaveAnywhere mod to Silent StormmodSaveAnywhere, it did NOT show up! So I experimented a bit and the right folder is:C:....Silent StormSaveAnywhere , the mod worked when I installed it directly into the main folder. Strange why they would call their samplemod folder "mod" as this is irritating Then I launched S² and in the first line, clicked the 3rd option in the upper line , selected SaveAnywhere, pushed the left arrow button confirmed the activation with the word in the button in the lowest right corner, and there it the mod activated the english language Hope this helped, Wicky[/b]
Goldchamp
I hate to beat an old post, but can anyone point me to a mod made before the patch? I cant get the savegame mod here now to work. Anyone got a link or copy of an older version?
Biggles
Both the Fastmove & the SaveGame mods at S2Hq are version 1.0 mods. A little known fact is that these will still work on version 1.1, and will cause the language switch. Another option is to install the editor, make your own mod (i think the editor is in english anyway), make sure the mod is really simply, something that changes some unimportant thing. Do this BEFORE you patch the game. Then you'll have your own v1.0 mod to use.
