Modding guideance needed

Hi everyone, my first post, not to mention first topic.

 

Anyway, I could use a hand with some modding, nothing big or anything, simply trying to add a rifle/firearm.

 

I've been looking in the Modding Guides forum but so far that only covers adding a grenade and changing alien sounds, which is quite usefull, but not quite what i have in mind.

 

When it comes to adding the gun itself, the guide works, but since it's for a grenade and not for pistols/rifles i'm thinking it leaves out a bit, not sure what that might be though.

 

I'm missing something, i'm thinking it's got to do with ammo.txt or magazines.txt.

 

If someone could give a hand i'd be truly gratefull

The guide is for a grenade precisely because it's simpler to add which made the tutorial easier to write and shorter. With a gun you also need to add a magazine in listofmagazine.txt.

 

Probably the best thing to do is to use the original files and other mods as examples of what's required. The documentation with the official mod tools will also give you information.
