Exeterian
HI everyone, Well I think I am almost there. I received my copy of XCOM Gold and dropped into my Win 2000 Compaq, 500 MHz. I installed Turbo.exe, set it to 65% and voila, the game was working, sound and all. However, what was sporadic crashing during the early months of the game became chronic later on. I have saved in a situation where two ufos are about to fly into Geoscape and approximately 5-10 seconds after they both arrive, the game crashes to windows. Does anyone know why this is happening and, more importantly, how do I fix it?
ShadowBlade
Maybe a problem with Turbo. You REALLY don't need it if you're using the Collector's edition of UFO. I played it in an Athlon 2200+ XP PC and it worked just fine. You have to lower the game speed in the options, though (in the BattleScape). Hope I could help. ShadowBlade
Then by NO means you should use Turbo. That machine was top-notch by the time TFTD was released!
Exeterian
I was thinking that too, but when I loaded up the game, it still ran extremely fast. Would you mind refreshing my memory about how to the game game speed? Is it under the save function during the tactical scenarios? Also, would you mind detailing me on how you ran the Gold Edition on XP? ie, any downloads, patches, etc? Thanks, E
BladeFireLight
The windows version does not have any patches.. it's equivilent to the Dos version 2.0. so I has one minor research bug dealing with the MC research tree. -Blade FireLight
