FRAG_MAN Posted November 3, 2003 Share Posted November 3, 2003 If like to see possably a mod where the equipment you can equip you squad with are the weapons used in National armies from around the world(including their own unique characteristics), for example for assault riles: -the M16A1 for the US squads (inc nade launcher), -the SA80 for the UK squads (inc scope), therefore impreved aimed shot + easir to upgrade to squade support machine gun as the 2 r identical appart form heavir barrel +belt feed-the FAMAS for the french squads, more accurate burst fire-the AK-74 for the Russian (inc nade launcher) (thats 74 not 47!), large round meaning more damage Plus for individual, fighters but each 1 has its own unique modifeiers/spec (as above) Also u start of with general squadies but as the squad get mores skilled they move up to the countries special forces (again with their own characteristics): -the SAS for the UK -the spetnas for Russia (hard as nails and slightly psyco)-i forget the french special forces (you could extend this to the french foreign legion with their excellent team work, e.g. when squad is coherrient in movenment they get bounuses similiar to the Horde effect in C&C:generals, BUT the french foreign legion is really a Mercenary army not a national army)-pick 1 for the US even though their spec forces r poop (they r poo they have no special characteristics in my opinion apart form bombing the crap out of a "scary looking buildings") And finally (YAY any reading this far must be shouting) if ur sqaud gets to Special forces status then u can equip them with ANY weapon from any other country ,as is what happens with real spec forces (UK squadie gets SA80 but SAS trooper gets what ever he wants within reason) With that in mind if ur squad is UK military then ur base is minaly situated in the UK and surrounding continent of Europe. The weapons and equipment will be no problems, voices and pics, too (within reasonable limits, my russian isn't that good, but maybe i can talk to my boss Sergej, he's from the Ukraine ), BUT : First we'll need an re-packer for the vfs-files OR the official tools. As i'm no good at 3d-programming we could use models already in the game (ok, for the first steps...) , the other stuff (pics, sounds, data) should be relative easy. FRAG_MAN Posted November 4, 2003 Author Share Posted November 4, 2003 the model side should be fine, i can blackmail my m8 into doing that (hes modeled for AVP1&2, HL, UT&2003 and so on)... accents should be ok with the online communites u get these days (yes im thinking back to the days when internet was not that back... DANG IM OLD!!). Weapons specs and so on are sorted as well my bro is a military knolage base (he plays Call of Cthulu, which is very wepaon spec based). Aralez Posted November 4, 2003 Share Posted November 4, 2003 The Xcom weapons shouldn't be a legal problem, they used common names like Autocannon (Apocalypse), Rifle (duh!), and such. But you could make very close-looking similar weapons for the ones, where they used special names. There was a "furry" looking energy weapon in Apocalypse, which was a fav of mine, but i can't remember the name atm. Btw, i agree on the starwars/trek weapons, they are a bit, hmm, "strange" and don't fit into the theme. But what about the weapons of the Predator, they seem pretty balanced to me. Imagine an enemy unit with high stealth numbers and a close-combat cutting weapon. :inlove: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
