How to get Ultra/Super Heroic

Now I know I've read the answer before, I just can't *find* it with the search function. So, what's the catch with getting above Heroic in an Attribute? Similarly, is it only training that can push a Skill above normal values once Attributes linked to the Skill are maxed at Heroic?

Experience alone can only push a soldier up to heroic in any particular skill. You can only get a soldier up to super-heroic in any particular skill by combining a training course that improves the relevant skill with lots of battlefield experience.

 

Also, no individual skill can be increased by more than one level by training, even if several training courses offer the possibility of increasing that particular skill.

How do they magically gain this "battlefield experience"? When I level characters up, a stat doesn't seem to be able to be raised above Heroic. Is there a certain level a character has to be to push past Heroic attributes? For that matter, is there a level cap?

The level cap is VERY high and so are the numbers of experience points you need to get them. Usually your guys will not reach that cap, no matter how hard you try

 

Btw, there is also a trick to use your "old" crew in a new game, just search the forum a bit

mmhmm my soldiers must be very unusual then, the best one has 3 super heroic abilitys and 6 heroic or so with lvl 18

The super-heroic attribute wil be acchieved quite often, but NOT the maximum level, that's what i meant, sorry i was a bit vague :o
