Hellraiser
I know this subject has been addressed but I haven't found my question. My computer will not let me get into the Config.sys. It says it can not open that file because it does not know what created it. When I go online to find out I get no help. I know someone out there had the same problem and overcame it. Could you help a Computer idiot out. s

Hellraiser
Ya Raven, Why is it a bad Idea? Like I said I 'm pretty computer stupid. I know enough to get me in trouble. IF you have anything else to add to help out would help me a lot.
NKF
Open the file in notepad as Alan said. The path to it should be in your root directory c:\ (i.e. c:\config.sys) If it does not exist, then you're in luck. You can make one yourself with notepad, or use msconfig or the older sysedit. Just go to start - run, and type in msconfig or sysedit. In fact, if you're using Windows 98 or above, then I'd highly recommend using msconfig. - NKF
BladeFireLight
what is it your trying to acomplish and what version of windows (or dos) are you runing? opening the file is only the start of the it. if the file does not exist or the settings you intend to change are not there then you will probably have a problem. I have been working with windows and dos for a while so I can probably simplify what ever it is your trying to do. -Blade FireLight
