mollusk
Hi there,i've been playing the demo a fair bit, but cannot work out how to alter the direction my troops are facing without moving them at least one square in the direction i want them to face. i reason that there must be a way to do this because i keep getting shot in the back by aliens that i can't see. Thanks for any help. Slaughter
There is no need to do so. When the troops stand still they look around by themselves. Oh, and welcome to the boards!
Raion
yes, you are correct, and turning should be included as an action in the next game. The only way to do that, is to make the path, differently so the squaddie will be facing the direction you want the squaddie to face. Sometimes, it is awkward but the squaddie will turn anyway to shoot an alien when ordering to shoot, so it is there anyway, I guess, they left it out as a command to give for the player to do. I am not sure if it takes any time or not though, as it is done pretty fast when shooting an alien but to me, it must take a small amount of time for the squaddie to face the direction that is needed. I like to see that in the next game, to be given as a command for the player to do, whenever the player decides to.
sigget
I suspect they tried having support for facing soldiers but found it was too hard to play with, that the area visible for each soldier wasnt easy enough to determine. In the E3 interview with Martin he said that Aftershock will have a feature where the visible view of a soldier is colored. Which reminds me of the Commandos -games.
