I've got a BIG problem.

The game absolutely randomly(tactic screen, options, inventory etc.) crashes. The music is steel playing correctly, the cursor is still animated and removable. I can easily close the game by ALT+CTRL... I tryed to reinstall MANY times, deleting registry. The game data isn't corrupted(checked, ) this disk goes ok on my friends machines. The setup program is ok and running correctly.

I've got Russian ver. 1.2(the patch 1.3 is useless with it, and there isn't some for rus. ver.)

My comp:

P-4 1.8

512 RAM

Geforce 5600 256mb

latest drivers

DX 9.0b(tryed 9.0)

Win XP(some SP's)

P.s I even installed the game on absolutely clean(just installed) Win - The same thing

Please help. I tryed everithing, and NOTHING

As I can see nobody has the same problem.

AM I alone???

help smb. please!!!

The only thing that I will add, from the company's forum is that, I play UFO:Aftermath with nothing else running in the background. Usually if I really want to make sure, I turn off the computer, and restart it after about a couple of minutes. Lately I have been turning off those annoying startup programs given out by other programs by the ton lately. Soundblaster - closed out! Pop-up programs - closed-out. Start-up folder for other programs - like Microsoft Word or whatever -- emptied - not needed -- do not have to have - taken out, to not start up those programs.

All I want is the OS threads to be running when a game is running.

In Windows 98 - Crtl-Alt-Delete, and then anything else besides Explorer and Systray -- those two programs are all that are needed for the computer to run.

In Windows 2000Professional, it is a little different, all processes are listed, and RealPlayer - is there, other start-up programs are there, I have not changed the priority on those yet, but I may to - about the lowest priority to run.

If it ain't running the computer, it may interfere with a game.

If you ain't on the Internet, then firewalls and all of that can be turned off. The default for XP will be -- On, and still the latest patch - had security holes in it -- funny for Microsoft!

Those programs take memory, those programs do not add much of anything, and those type of programs are not needed.

Those programs are offensive to assume that computer users want to be blessed with their versions of adding things to your computer.

Rant over!

What is needed is a program that logs those programs when a program is installed, and added to a list, that turns those programs off, and then exits itsself, so == a game can be played without interference!

And that is what I do to play just about anygame, and then the games work, well, for the most part, unless there is dust in the computer or a bad chip or something quite not right with the hardware!

;):P:P

Also I can not speak about the Russian version, since I am using the English version.

Perhaps, taking it back, and getting the English version may be something to consider.

Although there seems to be at least one bug about controlling aliens later in the game that was correct, I guess, with version 1.2 English.

I still am using version 1.3 English, and perhaps, version 1.4 may come out, maybe not!

Sad!

I had the random crash problem when I first bought the game, but I think the first patch they released sorted that problem out.. You say your'e using a russian version, but an English patch? Surely you should apply a russian patch? (If there even is one)
