X-Force is dead!

Recommended Posts

Look here for the sad news: link The text is in german, so here's a loose translation of the most important parts

-"It is over. Last week i decided to stop the work on X-Force... ...I don't know if i will ever continue it's development..... etc."

The main reasons seem to be:

-2 of the programmers already stopped working earlier.

-technical problems

-simply no fun programming the game any more

Man, that don't make sense ? if it was close enough to start messing with Demo's it was close to being finished ???

oh well, as you say, a shame, it was looking nice

wonder if somebody did or said something to tick him off ?

hopefully, the bug will bite again in a bit and he will get back to work ;)

Aralez,

X-Force released a demo a few months ago, and maybe a previous one last year. It had tactical and global views, soldier hiring/firing, equipment purchase, and an arcadey interception system. The tactical part was playable and had enemies but was still in the early stages.

Here's hoping Xenocide and/or UFO:AI make it to completion.

Maybe the X-Force creator could be coaxed into releasing the source code so that somebody could finish the game for him?

If someone were to combine the X-Force tactical and economics with Xenocide's menus and Geoscape, then maybe we would finally have a playable game.

I have always thought that all of the XCom clone makers should get together into one big team, each smaller team doing what they are good at, and create a unified whole that works and ties together. One team (like the UFO:AI blokes) would work on the tactical missions, one team work on the Geoscape and the ships such a team as the Xenocide guys, and one team work to build up the weapons, economy, and stores maybe such a team as the X-Force guy.

If they combined all of their work together and united as one, we would soon have a playble game, and a true XCom clone. Throw Aralez or Fulby or Kret into the mix to make it exciting or to add some mods, and we would have something impressive when they all are done!
