Pumpkinhead
I'm fairly new to this forum, yet I like the idea of a collaborative fanfic, but without having to read through pages and pages of text, can someone explain to me the general jist of it? I mean, does everyone have their own various plot threads running at the same time (pulp fiction style) or do you just pick up where someone else has left off?? What's the dealio, yo??? JellyfishGreen
For the XCOM fic anyway, it's better to try and share your plot lines with other people and write for their characters too. It reads much better. Hankosha's tending to write for just his character and it makes the fic a little disjointed. If you stick to only your character you'd be better off in the XCAS sim. Unfortunately this means you have to have a reasonable idea of the other characters, and you have to know what they've done so far in the fic, as well as reading their entry in the character database (see my www link). So it's trickier. But the end result is better. I hinted in the UFO fic discussion that I was hoping it would read a little like Tom Clancy/Andy McNab rather than like a superhero comic or x-files spy novel, and most people agreed with me, so that's how I wrote. A few mistakes with actions and characters here and there but I'm pretty proud. If you really screw up, we'll tell you in the discussion thread but as long as your intentions are good a post will probably survive with little or no editing. Late now. I go sleep.Merry Christmas & don't intercept the incoming reindeerJFG
