Bomb Bloke
Yep, good point. We'll say they were 'lucky' this time around.
Snikers
Say, just to make it clear: I didn't mean to write Fitz as a psychopath with no anger control. The idea was that he was being emotionally manipulated by psionic influence. Just so everyone's clear on that? Oh, and by the way - "What ABOUT the tank?" That was so funny! You know, I thought of that too during my writing, but since it sort of disappeared while drawing fire I assumed it was scrap. Man, that was hilarious. Bomb Bloke
I kinda thought you were going down that tract: "Idiots! Idiots! ALL BLOODY MORONS! Completely and utterly incompetent! Useless! STUPID" Fitz slammed a fist into his skull and held it there, as if his head was throbbing and he hoped to nurse it with pressure. Yeah, I thought about the tank, and figured the poor neglected thing had to have a mention somewhere. In other news, FullAuto spent all that time making a new squad for a meat grinder mission, introducing them etc, and then had *one* post throughout the entire thing. I don't know whether a or attitude is in order...
Hankosha
I'm going to post on monday. My character will give up the plasma pistol, but will have first dibs on laser/plasma pistols when they become available. Oh. Shouldn't we go in the logical order?Sectoids > Floaters > Snakemen > Etherials?Rather than skipping straight to snakemen? It'll give us a chance to research stuff. Also, I plan to introduce up to three cannon fodd, err...... recruits to the fanfic. I just have to spend some time thinking them up.
Zager
I'm going to post on monday. My character will give up the plasma pistol, but will have first dibs on laser/plasma pistols when they become available. Not to be negative, but I don't think members of an elite military unit can call dibs on issued equipment.
Alitorious
And considering your performance during the mission (being all rambo) I doubt they'd be all that willing to do that, anyways. (Trade in a plasma gun? They've got a few already )
Snikers
Oh. Shouldn't we go in the logical order?Sectoids > Floaters > Snakemen > Etherials?I've always had Mutons after Snakes and before Etherials.
Bomb Bloke
I get them in more or less random order, but Sectoids always seem to be first on the killing list. My current games' second alien has been, wait for it, Snakemen. We're gonna need to do some cut and paste work on the squads, methinks. Each squad should really have at least two soldiers that can be killed at short notice. At the moment, squad 1 is filled with 'important' characters, and squad 2 isn't much better... So we should move a few of those peeps into squad 3, then fill out the gaps with fodder. At the moment, I would say the researchers would have plasma pistols/rifles, but no heavy weapons yet. There was one in the terror mission, but we didn't really get to grab much stuff there... So, I guess the scientists might want the weopon, but they'd be more likely to threaten a military court marshall, then offer first dibs on kit. Zager
Oh, I've decided to tone down Gaston's eventual attack on Hankosha, I don't want him court-martialed, after all. He'll just try to beat Hank up, but not kill him.
Zager
Concerning the upcoming council of funding nations meeting, here's a few issues that need to be brought up. Expansion of the scientific and engineering team. I'm working on a post for Dr Zager in which he introduces the laser pistol and the prototype of the laser rifle, but unless the science team gets more staff, it'll be a long time before they can fully equip the combat teams with laser weaponry. New bases. X-COM really needs to get some bases operational in North America, Europe and Asia. After all, how many months do you think the US or Birtain or France are going to contribute to the project without them receiving any benefits? I'd suggest two fully operational (interceptors, skyrangers and two to four squads) bases in the US and Europe and interceptor bases (Interceptors and maybe one squad) in South America, Africa and China. Bomb Bloke
New bases mean a lot more characters if we can write for them all, well and good, but otherwise... As for the lasers, once the designs are done, it's all up to the engineers. Was that what you meant?
Zager
New bases mean a lot more characters if we can write for them all, well and good, but otherwise We'd only need base commanders and the top important personnel for meetings. We could just recieve reports on their actions, we wouldn't have to roleplay all the stuff they're doing, right?
Bomb Bloke
That actually makes perfect sense. Now why didn't I think of that?
Snikers
Or we could have some of our present characters relocated to different bases. It could give us missions wherein we have our personal characters, but at the same time lots of fodder characters. Spread us out, you know? Bomb Bloke
That could work well too. Probably a little early for a new base just yet, we haven't finished the first month! Maybe after the second meeting?
Snikers
I'm planning more bases by mid-January, lasers two days after, psi by Groundhog's Day, seen all aliens a week after that and the destruction of Cydonia as our St. Valentine's Day gift to Earth. j/k, of course...so far as you know... Zager
Maybe after the second meeting? We got to start doing something for the US and Europe. Maybe we could just start construction of our bases, and have 'em finished and operational at the end of the next month?
Bomb Bloke
Fair enough.
Hankosha
I never got mutons until a base assault and also until the Aliens had cycled through once.Play the Debriefing out if you want. I'm tired and sick, and am sorry i couldn't make new character, but haven't had the time.
Zager
Hank, we haven't met with the national representatives yet this month. The meeting's in a few days.
Bomb Bloke
It seems he was talking about the mission debreifing for the troops, as opposed to the meeting of nations.
Zager
I'm refering to the man who was talking to the commander.
Bomb Bloke
I noticed that, too... But I still thought otherwise... No matter, we'll mess with it if we have to.
Hankosha
I wa thinking it was a representative of the Chinese peopele or summat. I'm down with Post-Nasal drip still, so please excuse all non-sensical posts.Or it could have been the guy who gives the performance rating at the end of the mission sort of thing. Bomb Bloke
Ok, one more post, and I'll write up some meetings. I figure one meeting in the morning to redifine the squads, then the council of funding nations meeting in the afternoon. But before the squads can be done, we need four more soldiers. I wanna chop the teams up a little, as each squad only needs ten units, and squad 1 has twelve. Squad 1 has two medics, so I'll swap Howitz with Rubenstien, which'll get some much needed fodder into squad 1 as well as solving that problem. I also figured I would move Donovan and Ibsen into squad 2. Zager's new character can join squad 3, meaning that four more recruits need to join the same squad. The lists are then as follows: Squad 1Rick ChezJack ThomasTamara HillardTim DayEd DodgeMartin TerrickGreg ConnerBob JenningsKi-tat ChungIsaac Rubenstien Squad 2Hiroshi EscalanteKilam ChungKarl GreenCleo AndrewsChristel KellerBernard DujardinNorton WexfordGaston DuchanteJack DonovanJohann Ibsen Squad 3Alexander FitzwilliamsNathaniel JacobsonIgor ZhandovichPaul JasperJack HowitzRocio Lee So... four more soldiers. I might make another one myself, if no one beats me to it. Furthar more, it's about time some ranks were handed out. Can't have them all as rookies forever. I'll put that in the squad meeting, too, and I'll base the ranks off kill counts. I'll have to check the game manual before I work out what the actual rank hand outs will be. As for the funding meeting, things I plan to throw into that:- Recap of the three missions thus far.- Plans for new bases.- Research summary.- And end the whole thing ready for the introduction of Rocio Lee.
