The Veteran
First I want to clear the air before I pick at you again Loonie! I like your character and he presents a lot of interesting story for the fic. I also have no problem whatsoever with you. The whole MadCap thing was slightly frustrating but you responded to the criticism so well that it never once bothered me. Anything I spot in the fic which I feel is out of place, whoever wrote it, I will report here. I thought about moaning at JFish for shooting Rick in the arm but hey it suits his character perfectly! EDIT: Now that I had just noticed TJ's post...Superheroing??? Excuse me but is taking out one member of the team superheroing??? What about the allmighty Warlord who took out two men almost singlehandedly the first match? That's two more than I have. Is HE a superhero too? Hankosha already took out a hefty amount of members. What about him? Now just to clear anything up about the way I dealt with what I thought was a bit dodgy... Warlord as you brought him up is the best soldier in the base. Rick claims to second him but whether or not he does I don't know. Plus the fact that Warlord has a rapid fire, auto cannon! That does a lot of damage when it's aimed at a space full of people! He's been militarily trained for as long as we know and is hard as a brick wall...Terrick, if I remember correctly was never 'technically' military. (50/50 chance of being completely wrong so correct me if I am) Did he not work in the factory type place before he was sent to the Jap army?Anyhoo, when you kill so many people without help or any apparent weakness then you ARE superheroing, intentional or not. I understand that Poison is just as likely to be shot as Terrick is but you have to lose at some point. Usually the people who it's best to have win are the ones that haven't been mentioned in depth. That way you can't possibly be accused of superheroing. Just be sure to have read the fanfic rules carefully and it covers it in there. cheers
Loonie
Anyhoo, when you kill so many people without help or any apparent weakness then you ARE superheroing, intentional or not. Actually in case you haven't noticed Poison is the first and ONLY soldier that was taken down by Terrick. I was counting on someone to "kill" him in the following posts and that's why I also made mine quite short. But killing a single soldier is not superheroing. I don't know why you mention "kill so many people" because the only one was indeed Poison, heh. Anyway I have a bit of a tacky situation with Warlord as he set his character up as the ultimate top dog (most likely from being an Administrator himself, hehe ). I'm sure there are such people, but everyone has a weakness and till this day I haven't really spotted any in Warlord (I could've misread, but still trying to read through all the fic is generally not easy). Akneeway I do not know why you consider Terrick taking out a single soldier as superheroing. Also Terrick was not technically in the military, but he was a very good solo operative with the corporation, so it is quite safe to say that he has quite some combat experience. That's it basically. The Veteran
Did you really kill just the one? I know Hankosha killed a lot of people... Maybe I got confused when I was posting... I did post about three completely different things... whoops... Sorry Loon, my bad! Just... Take it as a warning that's all...
Hankosha
I killed four. See my newest post.I'm also currently wounded.
Tammy
Well, I think that settles the whole superheroing issue anyway. As for Warlord, it's really not his admin status that does it...it's just him. You just have to know him. He's also capable of the most incredible kindness and caring that you can imagine, so don't say too much against him in my hearing. :hmmm: (Not saying you did, mind you.) Well, Tammy's already in the shower getting ready for the party. Where is everybody? Um....not meaning that they should be in Tammy's shower, of course. They should be getting ready for the party, though.
Zager
I didn't think that the autocannon fired praticularly fast compared to a normal automatic or semiautomatic weapon. Fast compared to other anti-tanks guns, yes, but not to a standard gun. Zager doesn't have time for frivolities such as parties. Gaston's checking out the base's wine celler. Spaceman42
Loonie - I just realized this, but Gilbert seems to have a massive neon sign over his head saying "Pick me! Pick me" with regard to Martin... Will write some in a sec. [i just feel kinda guilty, as though I'm writing too much... ]
Tammy
Just keep it to one post per day, and if the others want to be involved, they'd better get to posting.
Snikers
Now, I want to not be causing friction with anyone, but I would have thought Poison would be the one to take fourto ten kills in training. I would have thought urban combat would be "her thing". Or not. Whatever.
Zager
Well, to be brutally honest, I highly doubt that any amount of experience on the street could ever make a person a match for a special ops commando.
Alitorious
Oh, just let me know if I characterise somebody's character, um.. out of character. (Jeez, that was too many character's in that sentence )
Zager
Don't worry, I'll be the first to tell you if you characterize Gaston's character as being the character of a different sort of character, rather than the right type of character, because it would be bad thing for his character not to be the right character, right, because a good character is a good thing. JellyfishGreen
In the paintball game, anyway, I gave the HW squaddies full-auto paintball gear that looks like something out of Ghostbusters II. They weren't using their heavy cannon/autocannon equipment. But in the game, I like to think of the autocannon as firing short bursts, or in 'auto' mode, sustained bursts, to seem more like the opening sequence. On the other hand, the heavy cannon is best explained as an RPG launcher that also takes solid slugs. Edit: Hankosha, thanks for the "coming out of shell" post.Interestingly, from the way the posts are ordered, I think Terrick got Hankosha! PS. Google says: Wax rounds are as inaccurate as paintballs - good for fast-draw or CQB < 50 ft - and can be fired relatively safely from actual guns, they fit the chamber and everything, and are launched using primer (no powder). Spaceman42
Oh, no! I used up my daily post allotment on developing two of my generics, one of whom is scheduled to die anyway! I just hate two-dimensional generic characters, is all. Yeah, I was lazy with the ending for Heather's morning, but I guess all the male characters will just have to quabble over who gets the "fiery redhead", neh? I've been thinking over Gilbert's end. Maybe he steals a HE Cannon round, and it blows up? Ammo? It has to be something with a big explosion, though. Not big enough to kill anyone in rooms next to him, but big enough to blow his room to bits...
Snikers
Y'know, you could just wait for an alien attack...
Spaceman42
Yeah, I could, but I want him to blow *himself* up. Hmm, I just realized that I forgot to really introduce Stereotypical Aussie Bloke in my post. I'll edit that bit a bit a bit later.
Spaceman42
Okay, I edited that bit in a bit earlier.
JellyfishGreen
Well, standing around the Hurricane launch tube with fuel-soaked overalls might be the overkill you're looking for. But we are looking for volunteers to, say, accidentally run into a friendly prox mine during an alien retaliation, and your man has the right attitude and career path. Edit: Oh, so an Akubra is a hat. Glock, Calico, Akubra... one of these things is not like the others.
Spaceman42
Ah, and when talking to Iain, be sure to refer to this often, eh?
The Veteran
It's party time! No more previously backdated posts please! Everything from this point on is either working up to or actually is the party. Kept in chronological order. We don't want the party to go too quickly though. It's a good chance for some final character development.
Alitorious
Sorry about those backdated posts, but I thought of them too late. Hope it doesn't mess things up. Well, it seems like everybody's too shy to post the first 'party post.' I know I am.
Spaceman42
It's probably a good idea to do the lead-up to the party before doing the party proper; leave it for a day or so [RT]. The Veteran
Nice one Loonie, I liked that last post.Just to point out to everyone new to the fics, Warlord and Tammy have no romantic connection. He is the alpha male, he's just like that! He's been at the base almost as long as General Genega now and he get's on well with all of the old soldiers. A few of you may want to think about editing your previous posts to allow for that... Also somethinbg that is irritating the living hell out of me... :hmmm: Everyone keeps writing two lines of dialog and trying to pass it off as a fanfic post! I apologise in advance to everyone this doesn't include but there have been at least three of you now and I'm fed up with PMing you about it! Zager, you know that yours needs to be al LOT longer. If you don't have the material then delete it and save the material for later. That goes for all of you.I said the same to Hankosha a while ago, thankyou for editing your post. It's still a little short but it's definitely acceptable. I believe it was Spaceman who did it too. And spaceman? What the hell is with your [directors note crap!] at the beginning of every post? This is a story! The discussion is done in here! Besides, if you want to write about all three characters, DO IT! It'll ave me having to moan about you six line long posts... :hmmm: In future, any posts that I consider are too short will be downloaded and deleted. The writers can contact me if they wish to discuss their removal or if they want the content PM'ed back to them so they can create a reasonably long post. Now let's not make me say this AGAIN! :hmmm:
Spaceman42
Okay, okay, I'm sorry. Now that I think about it, it *is* a bit stupid. Ah, well. I'll edit them all after lunch. I'll also post a bit more than 6 lines next time; I just couldn't think of a way to continue it after the Commander's entrance...
