Saber Warrior
It's official! UFO: Aftermath has gone gold and I'm counting the days till I get my hands on it. Unfortunately judging from the screenshots, I'm not very impressed. Heh, maybe it's the cynic in me so let's hope I'm wrong. Besides, Silent Storm is coming out soon as well (though the theme is WWII)
Slaughter
UFO:Aftermath may not be perfect, but it's as close to a X-Com fix as you'll get in years... I'm thrilled! And there you have a Aftermath thread not started by me Vet. In your face!
Strong Bob
I've already placed my comments on the off topic forum. Although my opinion is right up there with Saber Warrior's, it's more due to the more linear UFO crashes than simply the graphics. (Which is what I'm gathering to be your peeve with it, please correct me if I got it backwards. )
Saber Warrior
Heh the graphics is one of the reasons but I'm also curious about the technology tree. Maybe I liked that Marsec Armor from Apoc too much cuz the armor design in Aftermath is just plain weird!
ShadowBlade
I can't wait to get my hands on UFO: Aftermath! It has great graphics, seems excellent gameplay-wise and is related to X-COM! I really hope it lives up to my expectations.
Strong Bob
It may be good, but I won't get too optimistic. I was brutally scarred by the utter disappointment Ultima 9 turned out to be after almost a decade of hype. Thus I've learned to expect the worst from games as anticipated as this. If it's truly that good, I'll be glaringly impressed and it'll be all the better in my perspective.
Slaughter
Agree with you Strong Bob. But I have a good feeling about UFO:Aftermath:)
ShadowBlade
Yes, of course. I've also had disappointments with games before, but you must consider that all the reviews so far are very good (86%!), and so are the previews. However, the thing that bothers me is that Altar Interactive's last game, Original War was clearly a failure, so I hope it doesn't happen the same again with UFO: Aftermath. Strong Bob
86% isn't too good to me. I've been let down by games judged to be in the mid 90% by PC Gamer before. I'll reserve my true opinion for when they air a demo, or if I just go buy the thing.
Jim69
I expect nothing therefore anything good will be an improvement. I learnt that from MGS2 and I will never make the mistake again. Never the less I still feel a certain level of excitement I don't usually get anymore. Feels good
