XCOM transport sub interception

Aliens are smart enough to attack XCOM bases and to force the funding goverments to pact signing by diplomacy or by terror acts. So why are they missing the fact that all their problems are brought by XCOM transports? If they launch some patrolling subs and attack a slow and harmless Triton then XCOM progress will be impeded greatly. Even a Cruiser could chase and down a Triton easily.

Is it possible to add some initiative agression to alien subs so they could find and attack XCOM transports?

It would certainly be a good way to add a new scenario or at least a scripted plot related twist to the story to have one of your own transports shot down and you had to send in another transport to recover the crew. Either stranded at the downed ship or even taken prisoner and held at an alien base for interrogation - which would then lead onto other scenarios if you took too long. Etc, etc.

 

 

Sadly, for the original game, a lot of internal reworking will be needed to get something as simple as having your transport targeted and shot down. Without the source code available to the public that would be a most definite no.

 

Now doing something like that in OpenXCom is well within the realm of possibility, as the code is open source and available for anyone to tinker with.
