Stun Grenade
Hey Apoc fans, Has anyone thought of the idea to remake Apoc so it has the missed out features in the game? We could make a patch that would make Apoc like the final finished product? What do you say? Comments? ~SG
Bomb Bloke
Nearly impossible without the original source code. It would be easier to re-code the entire game executable file(s) from scratch.
Pete
Ouch. That wouldn't be too much fun to attempt...
Stun Grenade
ah it was just an idea that stuck me..
Strong Bob
I was approached by someone a week ago that was planning to remake Apocalypse. Though certain plans fell through, the goal remains the same. He even desires to buy the rights of X-COM right from Atari. Should be interesting to see the outcome of this... Stun Grenade
Buying the rights would be fairly cheap... but why the hell does Atari want them in the first place?
RCy
I would be interested to see the outcome of this too. I have no idea about how much selling rights to a brand of games that don't exist, maybe he should do some research in case he gets ripped off! Bomb Bloke
The rights concern the X-Com brand, and they're still for sale around the place. I suppose the rights owner would get the income. I think the rights were last valued at $50K.

bobbacringo
If the sourcecode of Half Life 2 was leaked, I'm sure apoc is floating around too somewhere. Just have to know the right place to look. I wonder if the person, if they do this, would actually remake or improve apoc? Like just finish the game, or give it a new 3d engine and expand on it and make a whole new game? Exciting stuff. Oh god we're such nerds.
Strong Bob
The person that approached me says he has a future "plan" concerning a patent obtained a couple decades ago, that would ensure a decent budget. Meaning he would buy the rights and hire the people to remake the game from scratch. He said he approached BladeFireLight as well, but I am uncertain if that was true or not... Stun Grenade
Have you asked BladeFireLight yet?
Strong Bob
Not yet. Though I have no reason to doubt it. As I was told, BladeFireLight seemed unintrigued.
Bomb Bloke
If the sourcecode of Half Life 2 was leaked, I'm sure apoc is floating around too somewhere. Just have to know the right place to look. The source code of HL2 was leaked because the idiots in concern had the machine hooked onto the net (which wasn't widespread back in the apoc days), and didn't notice that someone had broken into their system a fortnight before they decided to rip the code.
