Pruimpje
For the first time in my life I encountered a Psimorph. 2 actually... Fun thing is I can't get them stunned And man did I try, 2 guys with stungrapples, a Psiguy and a guy with a toxigun. Nothing! I even gassed - well no not me After 10 turns trying to get it stunned I killed it (fun thing is it pretends to be dead, only to wake up again ). No need to say I burned the Mothership and corpses to the ground
NKF
You're halfway there. Stun grapples + androids (or very good hybrids) are the way to go (it's also the only way to go once you're aiming for the micronoids aggregates). The stun grapples will not stun it on account of the alien's massive health so you will have to hurt it. While you can use it, I'd advise against the use of a toxigun to hurt it. It's overkill and could kill the alien (especially when you get toxin-C). You'll still need to bring its health down to 80 or under to get the grapples to work (or use a succession of stun grenades). You could continuously probe the psimorph to make sure you don't end up killing it with the next shot. Once it's down, check your overhead map to see if there's a big red blob on the floor. One should be there then it is stunned. You've been able to do it this far. There's just one more step to ensure it stays down. Have someone stand on top of it. That's right. Have someone stand on top of it and it'll stay unconscious for as long as the person is on top of it. Just to avoid brainsuckers, have the soldier lie down as well. Note, this'll work with every other alien as well. Now all you need to do is clean out the map and you're done. - NKF
Pruimpje
aha, thanks They are a bit of a let down. Not half the treath I believed they were...
Ki-tat Chung
i just hurt it, then stun it. i think. cuz normally, by the time i see them, i have two specialist psi guys who can mind-stun anything from psimorphs to micronoid aggregates. not sure about the psimorphs, but definaty the micronoids. Dan Forever
I always wondered why gas alone never really succeeded at stunning aliens. I'd always have to take a few pot shots at them before they went "oooh pretty birds zzzzzzz".
Ki-tat Chung
on the normal batlescape, they look the same as dead bodies; you need to check the overhead map by clicking the grid looking button or pressing tab. if you see a red triangle/circle, thats a baddie
Dan Forever
Yeah also, when they're stunned the body will dissappear if you're not looking at it and reappear if you are (just like live aliens) - all the corpses just stay there.
Dan Forever
bah! I mange to stun a psi morph AND a megaspawn when capturing a mothership, spend 30 minutes afterwards looking for one last hiding alien (turned out to be a popper) get both live aliens back to base and find out they both won't fit in containment I decided to take the psimorph and managed to capture another megaspawn from a downed escort later on \o/
Space Voyager
Darn! The Megaspawn my robot was standing on died becouse another one came along spitting missiles!!!
Dan Forever
hehehe, when I got that megaspawn before, it actually died whilst I was looking for the lone popper (bleeding wound), so I loaded a previous save game only to find that I couldn't keep them both anyway
Bomb Bloke
I've yet to catch an Overspawn. I wonder if anyone's experimented on the actual method yet. I keep meaning to, but I never get around to it...

Tain
Strangely enough the one alien that gives me the most trouble concerning a live capture are the Micronoids. They always seem to hide from me, or die.
NKF
That's when androids and stun grapples become your bestest buddies in the world. The micronoids can't do a thing about them, and you can take your time zapping them with the stun grapple and hurting them with a weak weapon until they are unconscious. You can even have the android wait with them till the end of the mission if you don't want to accidentally kill it with a critical wound. Same goes for the psimorph too. Silly thing. They should've allowed it to lick you or do something weird in general rather than just have it hover about staring at your androids in a daze. - NKF

On the other hand, if the AI used Psymorphs a little better (for instance if they got out together with the rest of the aliens) they could be devastating enough. Unless you have a whole team of robots...

Space Voyager
Robots have their disadvantages... Nothing wrong with the need for strategy. I agree completely. I was just saying that in this case the psymorphs become useless.
