Pruimpje
When I board a battleship and enter level 2 and up, the game start to become very slow. Fun thing is when I am or return to level 1 it gone... A known problem? I'm running Apoc on a P233, 64mb Ram, 4mb video card. No problem there if you ask me.
NKF
A 233 is quite an ideal system for Apocalypse. Of course, on the larger ships, the game has so many tiles to draw on the screen at the same time that it does tend to slow down to a halt (I believe it may even redraw most of the tiles that are hidden under other tiles - that's a lot of tiles!). It becomes less of a problem as your processor speed goes up. One good way to speed up the game without resorting to methods arcane: Just display a slice of the map rather than multiple levels. Toggle the display modes till you get one that's favourable. You have to get used to using page up and page down keys a lot and scan the map, but it's worth it for the speed boost. Or, you could go to the sound setup and set it to no-sound. There'll be a considerable boost in speed. You lose out on the constant squish squish and squawks, but that is the price you have to pay for a few extra display frames. Rebooting to pure dos mode also offers a considerable speed boost. - NKF
