Ki-tat Chung
ok, pretty much everyone should know my problem now. i have to install the SVGA patch on my comp, right? i do so for my ufowatever.exe, then i can get into the cityscape part of the game. now i've recently done a little more reaserch, and if i don't patch the tactp.exe, i get the loading screen (the one with the hybrid and the tin helmet), then crashes into desktop as if nothing happened and the game was never loaded. if i patch tactp.exe, it freezes into a black screen and even ctrl+alt+del won't work. any ideas? Ki-tat Chung
ahem. please read the thread properly. i did say that i used the SVGA patch which fixes the error it helps fix cityscape, but if i enter battlescape with the patch, it freezes into a black screen. no three-fingered salute, no nothin...and if i don't apply the patch, it has the loading screen with the hybrid and tin helmet, then crashes into the desktop/explorer/etc as if i never ran it (apoc) at all...btw, whats "Fry's"? i don't use a graphics card: im asian and too cheap. nah, my dad bought the comp for $200AU (go figure yourself, can't be bummed converting to euro, pound and USA today...). not bad for 200, but it only has 128mb ram (which 8mb goes to onboard video), onboard sound and video, PII300MHz which i can clock to 450MHz. the rest you do not need to know other than i have win98. edit: oh, and i got a "new" old hdd. my old 486's hdd failed, as some of you TFTD people know, and it took the swapfile with it. now the original HDD was about 800BM, and the 486 one was about 400, so i just put small games and the swapfile in the 486 hdd. the 800MB was prettymuch full. so when it failed, i asked a friend for an old hdd, and he gave me a 2GB one. im so happy now i got a "good" old comp and i can install the optimal version of apoc on my PI! p.s. has anyone figured out how to put the BGM file on the hard drive yet other than haveing a virtual frive? i've managed to put everything except the music on the hdd...
