Packers
During the course of playing through the game, I found this to an invaluable time saving device; when played in turn-based mode. Due to the fact that all the UFO's have the same interior designs, (for their individual classes), to clear them it is a simple case of transporting troops into areas where the aliens are most likely to be. Once the area is opened up to view...the aliens can easily be slaughtered with the toxigun It is also true for raiding missions and most terror missons. Does anyone else utilise the teleporter as much as I do? It does, however, take the edge off the combat....it becomes far too easy After I completed the game I used it to constantly raid buildings throughout the city. All enemy units could be killed in a single turn  ...simply through guessing their probable location.
Pyro
Yeah the technique works great but it also makes the game WAY to easy. I would teleport in MC a sketiod or antro make them drop all grenades and explosives then throw a primed vortex mine on top, teleport out and when I got back ony one or two Alien s alive. The Demi-Godly One
You can also use a teleporter to teleport behind an alien when a missile is after you. Very useful for making the megaspawns hurt their supposed "allies".
NKF
The teleporter is a magnificent device. But with the toxiguns and anti-alien gas grenades, they do knock the fun out of the game a bit. I often get rid of the obligatory medikit and secondary disrupter shield just to carry a few more teleporters. What I like most about them is that they make the power swords useful again. The power swords are very powerful but are quickly rendered obsolete beause of their poor attack range. But with the teleporters, range is no longer an obstacle. The teleporters are also lots of fun for those that like to go on solo android missions. - NKF P. S: One interesting but thoroughly unsporting use of the teleporter is to kill mind controlled units by having them jump off really high ledges. Mouse Nightshirt
You may find this shocking, but I never ever use a teleporter. I always have cloaking device in one hand and toxgun in the other. Stupid I know, but they make the game waaay too easy and take ages to research.
bevan
Teleporters make the game waaaay too easy, when you can clear a mothership in one turn with no casualties the game gets a bit boring
Nightshade
Well personally I've never used a teleporter. THe first time I played the game it was on easy, the closest I got was downing a UFO with a teleporter on it and recovering it. I finsihed the game b4 I could research it. When I played it on Superhuman, They never got 2 that level.
Ki-tat Chung
yeah, teleporters are the best. i havn't tried to use them in conjunction with power sowrds yet though...
Nightshade
What do the personal teleporters look like?
NKF
It's like a maroon arm brace with a white bit and curved blue monitor and some red triangles of some sort stuck on the side (there's a raised cover on the other side). There are also pink switches on the band. It's mostly maroon. Same size as the personal cloaker. Search your Apocalypse CD for the file W51.pcx. It's in the UFOPAEDI folder. You should be able to open it with MS-Paint or any other image viewers you might have. - NKF
penchant
I was puzzled by your description of the Personal Teleporter, NKF. Until I looked at it in the Ufopaedia, that is. However, I wonder if Nightshade was asking what it looks like in play? If so, it looks to me like a woman's mauve handbag (or purse, to our American cousins). Nightshade
Handbag? (goes and looks) oh of course, your right.
NKF
Do not ever ask me to describe any of the other alien weapons beyond the devestator and the disrupter gun. They scare me. I mean... I ... Uh, I guess the vortex mine looks like a red daisy, or was it sunflower? Some flower I cannot think of at the moment. But let's not get into the more devious alien weapons. But as for the inventory screen teleporter -- hmm, it looks about the same. Only shrunken. On second thought, it reminds me of those sports bags athletes put their shoes and other sports gear in, such as tennis racquets. Seen at an angle. - NKF
penchant
I mean... I ... Uh, I guess the vortex mine looks like a red daisy, or was it sunflower? Some flower I cannot think of at the moment. A starfish flower? A wounded one, maybe.
Ki-tat Chung
why do things like ammo and 'nades look entirely different from the ufopedia...
Nightshade
Coz the ufopedias screwed up, its like they had a photo shoot for a grenade or something.
NKF
Yes, the grenades are missing their handles. Not much of a problem, but it does make you look twice when you examine their images. Personally I feel they can't make up their mind how some of the graphics should look. The disrupter armour for example. What you see in the inventory screen looks nothing like the one you see in the ufopaedia. But then again, this has been a problem since TFTD and its ion armour renditions. It's traditional! - NKF
Ki-tat Chung
mmm...i agree. do you think we should make a re-vamped version of the images? i'm making a patch for fixing images, maybe i should make another for new images made to resemble the ufopedia abit more? edit: ok, i got the scores. After battle, was 62571 pts, befroe battle was 59985 pts, before i downed the UFOs at the AD was 58235 pts and this was week 18. i think the trigger may be 55000 or 50000 pts.
