  1. Here is a photo of the good Doctor. http://www.geocities.com/j_pickers/alien/doctor.jpg And here is one of him at work (Though he enjoy's his 'work') http://www.geocities.com/j_pickers/alien/secop1.jpg And another... http://www.geocities.com/j_pickers/alien/recreat8.gif And one of the Sectiod which he half-inched the brain from that takes up residence on his desk during work hours and goes into the fridge during missions  http://www.geocities.com/j_pickers/alien/autr4xy.jpg One day you might even get a photo of the brain itself Anyhow that's what Yorke looks like!
  2. I'm personally a 'Heavy Plasma' guy. The words 'heavy' and 'plasma' in the same word is for me too hard to ignore. But accuracy and power, and the fact that most aliens pack a hvy plasma later on in the game means that I have to worry less about the spare clips. On the other hand the laser rifle has to be my favourite weapon, you only need a rifle and no spares...mmm...no spare clips needed...
  3. Nice one, okay here is a link that will teach you the art of simming: XCAS Art of Simming and Rules Basically read that, and show up to the mission, if you're not sure still how to sim then then my advise is just watch the others sim. You'll then understand how we sim (Also the general insanty that seems to follow us...and I ain't talking about Loonie )And then once you've gotten an idea of how to sim then just join in. If you don't like that idea then you and I (And anyone else) can organise a time before the Sunday sim and we can teach you how to sim in a little training mini-sim. You'll have a better idea of how to sim and with time you'll become a veteran! You'll also find the main rules at the bottom of that page, however basically: We don't forbid swearing as such, we just don't encourage it either but if you must swear then don't over do it. Other rules are just rules of common sense and politeness, no flaming, in a mission you only play your own character, keep the OOC (Out Of Character) Chatter to a minimal during a mission as well. Ops (The people with the power to kick and ban you from a channel) should be listened to, if they tell you your doing something wrong - you are doing something wrong. Mind you that doesn't mean to say that they are perfect and right all of the time. How has the plot changed since the background story... We meet new race - The Ascidian's, they are under attack from aliens, they are psionically weak, aliens are psionically powerful, so we become 'friends', aliens kill, maim, destroy, we come and kick ass while chewing gum. We then get a Base because the Aliens half-inch (steal) our starship, we get our starship back, we meet the Kabron pirates, they under threat, but have handy Avenger, we become allies...I think...and well...Jackson gets shot...again...and again...and again. Needless to say the plot is a hard thing to describe right now, my advise is read the stories, read the fanfiction, or wait until some one can be arsed to post a kind of 'Background update' thingy. Would you have to roleplay on the board and in the sunday missions to legitamally sim? Hell no. It's optional, we encourage you to post in the forum roleplays, but as long as you show up to the mission (or post your absenses) then you're doing alright. Oh and we Sergeants are Gods, treat us so Any questions? Or querys? And if you would like to do a training mission before the Sunday main mission then tell me ASAP so I can sort out a time and place that would be good for both you and me. - Doctor Ned Yorke, who also, by some strange twist of fate, is a Sergeant.
  4. Go on...you know you want to... :alien2:
  5. Thanks CZ! I'm looking forward to writing up the Mutons...and with a bit of luck...the Aereon!! (That's if it ever shows its face!!!) (Mmmmm...Psi-Lord)
  6. >Connecting to Medical Server... >Search SP-09T, FH-91X, SI-71Q >Searching...this may take a few minutes... >Found 3 Documents >Open SP-09T, FH-91X, SI-71Q >Opening... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- File: SP-09T Subject: Sectopod Scientific Name: (N/A - Alien Entity is Predominantly Mechanical) Classification: Alien - Weapon Platform? Catergory: Terror weapon - Heavy Attack and Defence Sub Genus: Non Known to date, however autopsy evidence suggests that different weapons can be mounted. Psionic: No Offensive Psionic abilities, however, it is a psionically controlled weapon - meaning it's Psionic defences are extremely high. Description: This unit was first encountered during the First Alien War. (Current thinking suggests that the weapon had been recently developed prior to the 1st AW) And quickly became associated with Ethereal's and their terror missions. The Sectopod stands at over 10 feet tall and around 8 feet wide. The size of the Sectopod has changed little however the exterior has changed greatly, this like the reason for the genetic alteration of the Chrysalid, is to enhance the shock and fear factor that it is designed to convey. Also the manoeuvrability is compared to the model encountered during the AW1 (See file 'Medicial/AW1/T-3-G') has been improved by an estimated 20%, the unit is capable of full 360˚ rotation on its waist and it's bipedal leg units have been modified to compensate for the armour which is now a layered. The first layer of armour protects the Sectopod from projectile weapons and rockets (It is designed to deflect small arms fire and anti-tank weaponry alike) The second layer is made up of a alloy lattice which provides the unit with a way to quickly dissipate heat. And the final layer provides the protection from plasma and fusion weaponry. Special Notes: For those of you questioning the reason this project was handed over to the medical team at NAO the reason is this. The Sectopod unit could be argued to be a self sentient intelligent weapons platform the way this is done is that at the core of the sectopod (where it is well protected) There is a actual brain, the creature that the brain was originally taken from has not been identified, however certain chemical traces and the make up of protein molecules suggests that the brain was retrieved from a alien creature that probably shared the home world of the Snakeman. Now this organic brain has been heavily modified through genetic recombination and has had a nervous system that is most different. (For the purposes of this report I shall omit it however it can be located in: 'Medical/Notes/Sectopod Decentralised Nervous System') However once the nervous system leaves its sanctuary in the cerebrum it goes through specialised electron converter that converts the electrical nervous signal from the brain into electrical commands. Battlefield Notes: As I have mentioned in the above, the Sectopod is very resilient against Plasma/Fusion attacks and small arms fire will prove ineffective. However, the aliens have not yet been able to devise an effective means of protecting the sensitive sensory circuitry that is very weak to Laser attack. When engaging these units it would be wise to try and neutralise the sectopod quickly, it's above average weapon skills, heavy fire power in the way of two multi-barrelled rotating heavy plasma pods which provide deadly firepower, heavy armour that provides excellent defence against all forms of attack and the and the advanced (but vunerable) sensor suite make it a dangerous foe. When engaging this unit the only advantage you will have is the vulnerability to laser weaponry, it's lack of close combat weapons and the unit's reliance on the Ethereal's, which means that if the Ethereal's are killed off the Sectopod will lack any form of a coordinated attack and will just resort to engaging the nearest unit, if there are none then it will just switch to sentry mode and will maintain it's position waiting for a new target. (It has been known for Sectopods to do this for months unit a Ethereal in the immediate location takes it over, or when it's been destroyed.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- File: FH-91X Subject: Floater Scientific Name: Fero Asindus Classification: Alien Category: Medium Infantry - Medium Terror Agent - Extreme Environment Combat unit Sub Genus: Navigator, Medic, Soldier, Leader, Commander, Engineer and Terrorist Psionic: The Floater has low-level Psionic offensive capability. Psionic defence increases with rank, albeit a marginal defence. Description: Another unit that was first encountered during the first alien war, it has since under gone some enhancements. The floater is believed to of been a precursor of the Muton, and in many scientific circles is believed to of been a 'testbed' or prototype for the Muton where the Alien command has experimented with the floater solider in an attempt to see how much alterations could be made and how successful would the creation of a cybernetic warrior. Presumably the success of the first Floater soldiers in combat meant that they were not only put into the alien service but also led to the development of the Muton. The Floater proportions are similar to that of a tall but average build human, or at least it would of if it had legs. The Floaters internal organs (lungs, heart digestive system etc) have been replaced completely with one cybernetic system that takes over their functions. This use of one life support unit has meant that the Floater is capable of surviving in extreme environments (Zero Atmosphere, extreme cold/heat, high pressure etc) And from intelligence gathered during AW1 indicates that a sub genus they are used to maintain the exteriors of their ships. (Intelligence/Security Level 2/Floater-DeepSpaceOperations) This life support unit also incorporates an Anti-Grav unit that allows the Floater to float though the air. This Anti Grav unit has been improved since AW1 this means that the creature is now a much more stable floater. The creature's is a genetically altered and cybernetically enhanced infantry unit that was originally a natural predatory creature. This shows in the fact that the Floater has a smaller brain compared to ours but it compensates for this by its well-developed sensory organs. Unlike the Muton and the Sectopod it does not overly rely on the control of a Psionically superior entity. Special Notes: The Floater like many of the common combat units are believed to be clones. Which while they are developing (It's believed they go through an accelerated development process) they are enhanced with the cybernetic units. The destruction of a major cloning facility would mean that the number of replacements for units lost in combat will drop dramatically in the area, causing the alien ships to have to venture a greater distance to replace or get extra Infantry units. The antigrav unit is a remarkable piece of technology, giving the Floater a improved tactical ability on the battlefield making it able to rise above the other units and provide support from on high. Currently there is no telling of how high the Floater can float to, but it is believed that given time it could reach outer space, though this has yet to be proven. Battlefield Notes: On the Battlefield treat these units with respect. The cybernetic enhancements improve it's survivability and give it a tactical superiority. The Floater has no defences against standard weaponry. In spite of this the Floater is a creature that can detect hostile units with ease. It's well developed vision gives it good night vision capability. While the two 'horns' (Which were believed to of been horns until a study by Dr Vera Xander 'Xenological Sensory Devices. 2014') are actually two sensory 'organs'. They are hollow bones with a immense number of sensitive nerves which can detect changes in pressure caused by nearby movement. As well as sounds and smells. (The Floater has around 5% of its brain devoted to using these 'horns' which is a large proportion given that the Floater uses only 15% of its brain mass.) These 'horn's can detect 'foreign' units as they move as they will cause changes of pressure and create sound and smells, this ability allows it to locate attackers with a greater ease than most other Alien units making it a good sentry. However it's low Psionic resistance means that it is vulnerable to being taken over, or at least having the senses masked by a psionist. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- File: SI-78Q Subject: Snakeman Scientific Name: Hydraugastyer Bellmont Classification: Alien Category: Heavy Infantry - Extreme Environment Combat unit Sub Genus: Navigator, Medic, Soldier, Leader, Commander, Engineer and Terrorist Psionic: No offensive capability however does have a basic defensive capability that increases with rank. Description: The Snakeman is one of the more unique units; it's a creature that from studies has shown that it is a being that evolved on a world that's environment was extreme. They have undergone several genetic modifications over the years since the First Alien War. They are a creature that's entire body is dedicated to movement; the cardiovascular system uses a hydraulic principle to create movement. Its primary organs are located and protected in the 'tail' or 'foot'. Under a quarter of the body is dedicated to reproduction and this dedication of the body mass to reproduction means that the body is able to create and store at its peak 50 eggs, which will not require fertilisation, as the whole reproduction process is asexual. It's only thanks to a hormone that the aliens give to the Snakemen on a regular basis to prevent the Snakemen laying the eggs. Snakemen are creatures that are dedicated to predatory instinct and would resort to a primitive predatory state if they were not psionically controlled. Snakemen military actions are controlled by psionic's from other locations. The skin of the Snakemen is very tough and heat resistant, which provides them with a certain degree of defence against the Plasma and Fusion weaponry as well as protection against projectile weapons. Special Notes: The Snakemen like so many beings are clones however unlike most have not undergone much genetic modification or cybernetic implants. Studies of Snakemen corpses have shown that not all are clones, suggesting that they are actually taken from a planet or a 'breeding' ground, after which they have there gene's modified and then are put into the service of the alien forces under psionic influence. Whether the Snakemen are now considered 'warrior slaves' by the aliens is to be confirmed but interrogation and scientific studies indicate that this may be so. Battlefield Notes: Most types of weaponry are effective against the snakemen, however flame throwers will be of limited use against the snakeman, Plasma weapons and fusion blasts at close to medium range can cause fatal trauma, however at long ranges these weapons will be less effective. The same principle goes for projectile weaponry, multiple shots will be required to bring a snakeman down, and the most effective range for this is close. In close combat you will find them dangerous opponents, their arms and hands use the hydraulic principle to move and therefore are capable of extreme strength. The snakemen have no venom sac's unlike many of their earthly 'cousins' (There is no evidence to support any connection between Earth based life forms and those found in the alien forces) However the powerful hydraulic effect means that they can cause a good amount of damage to personal body armour. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- >Close SP-09T, FH-91X, SI-71Q >Closing... >End Session >Logging Off and Encrypting Medical Database
  7. I agree (Not with Ghosts assertion of Netherlands being the best place ) So are we going to have a simple poll? With a list of research projects or are we going to have to write up our vote? Because if we do the latter then it's open to anyone that traverses the forums of XTC as opposed to those of XCAS, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing?!
  8. Well they took me two hours but I wrote all three! Sectopod, Floater and Snakeman! Bwhahahahaha! I'm still a power hungry megalomanicac who would only let himself write the alien autopies.
  9. Really? Hmm... I'll note that and check it out when I get a chance to. In the mean time who dared to move my topic!! Who did it?! I spent all of 5 minutes searching the Fan idea's forum and then realised that it's been moved!!
  10. Cool, it's nice to see interest in the project The project isn't dead! Just so you know, its on the back burner, basically with only me...and...um...me...as the modding 'team' it make it hard to keep this project going during the exam periods and such...bnut afterwards I should be able to advance forwards with the project!
  11. Hankosha walked on, he then joined a group of people and then everyone turned to the clock and started counting down, him watching Hankosha would be a little more obvious than he would like, but only a trained eye would know what to look for. Great! Just bloody great! He made his way to the back of the room where there were less people about, he could see Hankosha, though he knew he wouldn't be going anywhere. The people around him shouted in unison 5...4...3...2...1... And then everyone started celebrating, except for John who just quietly watched everyone celebrating, though he kept an eye hovering on Hankosha. As he watched the man interacting with his friends John felt a gut feeling, he wasn't sure, it had been a long time since he wasn't sure about something. He may not be the hacker...but he may lead to me to the one...if it isn't him. He carried on this line of thought until he was interrupted by one of the staff who came and hugged him yelling. 'Happy New Year!' John returned the hug and hoped that the person hadn't felt the gun under his jacket. "Same to you mate." He said as the person moved onto another victim. Then in the corner of his eye he saw that Tammy was now free. Hankosha isn't going anywhere fast. Thought John as he pushed himself away from the wall and walked over to pushing his way occasionally shaking a persons hand as he made his way over to Tammy, a young gentleman was stood in his way. "Excuse me." Said John fairly sternly. The young man's body language tightened up and he moved out of John's way, but avoided looking John in the face. "Sorry." He said and then he started walking away. John placed his hand on the person's shoulder. "Hey no problem - and happy New Year." He felt slightly guilty about being so rude and harsh on the young man, John then nodded to the man and then carried on walking towards Tammy, he walked up to her and saw her looking over to another person...Gaston? Yeah that must be the guy's name. "Your boyfriend?" Said John to Tammy bluntly. Her head turned to John and looked at him with a quizzical expression. John smiled. "I'm sorry, I forgot my manners." He offered his hand. "John Pickering, Intelligence Division." She took his hand, her hand felt warm and tender and at the same time firm and strong. "I'm Tammy, Combat Medic." Replied Tammy. John already knew that, and he knew more about her and most of the base personnel than they probably knew about themselves. "So is he?" John nodding his head in the direction of Gaston.
  12. Okay...do I wait for Hankosha to change his post or do I ignore it and post as I would of...?
  13. Don't worry I'll play nice  Seriously though, I won't be pulling Hankosha just yet, I do want to have some fun at the party... and meet Tammy :inlove:
  14. ~Main Server Office~ Paul was sat with a cup of coffee on the desk, he had his feet up and was drifiting off to sleep, he was supposed to of been replaced half an hour ago by Jimbo Abrams, who no doubt would either be alseep or at the party...or both, lucky bugger. His eye's closed for a few moments and slowly drifted to sleep. Bleep! Bleep! Bleep! "Huh?" Startled he kicked his legs off the desk, the wheels on his chair moved and Paul fell back with a thudd. "Ugh! Knew I should of stayed in bed today..." He got up and looked at the monitor. "Oh no." ~Rec-Room, Party~ John was still leaning against the bar when his phone went off. He pulled out his phone and walked over to the toliets, he entered the mens and answered the call. "Pickering." "Sir, we had an unauthorised access of the main servers, the files that were accessed were the base mainfests, we...um, didn't pick up the incursion until it was too late, so we wern't able to trace the computer." Paul's voice trailed off at that point. Pickering frowned, the mens toliets were empty so no one would be listening. "Looks like we may have found our mole..." He whispered to himself. "Pardon?" "Never mind, what else can you tell me about what happened?" John was now leaning against the sink, behind was the mirror reflection of him on the phone. Paul paused for a moment before he replied. "Uhm, they disconnected from the servers only 5 minutes ago after accessing the sever for a few minutes." John's eyes went wide and he quickly left the mens, his phone still to his ear as he entered back into the party. If the mole had accessed the server a few moments ago then he...or she if they made the mistake, would be coming to the party. "Hold on." He said into the phone as he ended the call and walked over to the main entrance, he looked around to see if he could spot any faces that he hadn't seen before. Arriving at the door he then relaxed his exterior and looked around the party floor. There were a few new faces, or at least faces he hadn't spotted when he was by the bar. When the doors to the rec-room opened. Nathaniel Jacobson - Hankosha. Hankosha entered the party and started walking over to his friends. John pushed him self off the wall. He didn't beleive in coinsidences, the timing was too good. He trailed Hankosha from a distance, looking quite normal he avoided staring at Hankosha as he followed using his perhiperial vision to keep a track on him as the two men filtered through the crowds of X-Com personnel enjoying themselves. John slipped his hand into his jacket, though it would look like he was just checking his mobile he had checked his pistol and checked that the holster's buckle was detached. He then took his hand out of his jacket and carried on following Hankosha from a safe distance.
  15. Cool, erm but I'm now confused, mass murders? that was what lost me. But um, okay, I had actually a different person in my sights for the evil person...but hey it could still werk...however I do have a rather long term plan of scheming...bwhahhaha...*ahem* Yeah, so whats this evil plot of your Loonie?
  16. Pickering walking away from the table as the young lady...Gia? arrived to take back her seat. Stepping around groups of people that talked he picked up little snippet's of conversations, nothing of real interest but worthy of keeping at the back of his mind, you never really knew what was important and what wasn't until you had all of the pieces of the puzzle. Over to his far left was striking woman dressed in a red dress, th face easily betraying who she was, Tammy. Meanwhile to his right was a large burly man...Bruheme, Heavy Weapons, American, not much else to be said once you met him in person. John didn't spot Martin who was keeping Bruheme between him and Pickering, but he did hear his voice, the accent Japanese stood out from most of the other accents, but John thought nothing of it, though he did feel something was not in it's place here...that or someone. John kept walking on looking around taking note of whose face's were here and whose weren't, arriving at the bar he found two of the bases scientists. Doctor's Gomez and Zager, both speaking in something that resembled...Italian? Or was it French? The situation put a simile on his face. He could speak Russian, Chinese, very poor Japanese and his European languages, French, German and the suchlike were rusty but he knew them. He ordered a coke, though something with alcohol in it would of been more preferable he knew that his mind should be kept sharp, and anyway, unlike everyone here he didn't want a hangover. Latin! His mind shouted realising what the language the two were using, though he knew no Latin whatsoever he did pickup on certain keywords. 'Laser' being one of them. Laser Technology. He was tempted to take the two gentlemen outside and remind of the security issue's, talking about such research, even though it was in Latin, with so many ears about, was a dangerous game. No lets not attract attention to yourself, I'll just send a Memo to them reminding them of security issue's. No doubt both gentlemen would find the memo, either very disturbing, or very amusing or both. He swung around on the barstool, and with half his mind concentrating on the conversation, where he picked up several other words, that had to come out in English as there was no Latin word or words for them. While his other half scanned around the rec-room. So many people here, be a good opportunity to get some espionage with the most of the base's personnel all gathered here in this one room. While he studied the people around him and their body language he pondered whether to mingle with the people at the party, but decided against it - for now anyway.
  17. Two new characters all in the Intel Department Intelligence Analyst Val Deacon History She's young for a person in her position but is smart and has a sharp eye and is a little timid and nervous, though eager to please. She was originlly a CIA Intelligence Analyst where she rose through the ranks rapidly by proving her worth, until she was transfered to X-INV and placed under Pickering's Command, with the disbandment of X-INV and transfer of resources to X-Com, Pickering brought her along to be part of the new Intel team. She's 27, and has short brown hair, with a slim build and is around 5 foot 2 in height. Skills: An excellent analyitical mind, and a sharp eye for details. Physically she's only taken basic self defence classes and so has a low rating in hand to hand combat. Gun handling skills: She's has below average skills with pistols. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Encyption Specialist Paul Johnson Paul's a man who's worked with computers all his life, he has excellent mathmatical skills, he's worked for the goverment on a contractual basis where he's taken part in developing encryption protcol's for military communcation use, as well as this he's able to hack and get past computer security systems. Age: 25 Black hair, short and spiked 5 foot 7 and has a average build Has not taken any self defence classes. Has not handled a gun before, but is aware of how to operate them, but most liekly has a very low skill with the gun.
  18. Now then all, Pickering has re-emerged...and as is as ever totally lost, anyhow I've posted, and I've entered the party (if not unwillinglying) and I've got a little side story running...bwhahahaha!! anyhow...erm, so what's currently happening and who is in command of the base and security?
  19. ~Intelligence Office~ "Sir, this just in from Office-15." Val Deacon an American Intelligence Operative, a desk jockey, handed him a folder with 'Classified' stamped on it. John nodded to Deacon and took it turned around and entered his office closing the door behind him he sat down and opened the folder and pulled out a printed sheet from Office-15, the numbers were randomly generated just to disguise the true number of field offices and field agents, however there was at least one office in each of the funding nations, plus one or two in nations that weren't funding but were of interest... "Okay then lets see what we've got here?" He skimmed the report, nothing much of interest. Things were quiet out there in Japan. John knew that there was a party going on, or some sort of celebration going on, though that really wasn't his scene, though it would be interesting to watch how the people on the base interacted with each other. But he wasn't really interested in interacting with them. He was here to provide Intel, security checks and intercept leaks before they got out. "Something isn't right here." All of the offices had orders not to break radio silence except at the end of each month for a monthly report, or for when something important had happened or was happening- "Excuse me sir?" He looked up. "Haven't you heard of knocking first and then coming in?" He sighed and placed the sheet back in the folder and then put it in his desk. "But seeing as you're here...what?" Paul Johnson, one of the encryption specialists took another step into the office but still used the door almost like a shield. "Sir, er, we've noticed some anomalies..." John just nodded. "We've noticed access by an unidentified user to certain files on the main servers..." Paul took a deep breath, and looked to John awaiting his response. Pickering reclined in his seat looking thoughtfully at Paul. "I presume that this ' user' had used the stations on the base?" "Erm, yes sir, but..." "But?" Paul took another deep breath as he organised his thoughts. "We believe that this person used another station, and used a 'Trojan' to gain access to another station, and then used another 'Trojan' to access another station and again, before he accessed the main servers...oh and he had erased all records of his accessing the server..." John rose from his seat and grabbed his jacket. "What are the file's?" Half an hour later, the files had been pulled from the server and were now being analysed by the computer specialist, John looking around the Server office noticed a box marked. - 'Backup' "Paul, when were these backups made?" "Erm, last night sir." Paul realising what Pickering was getting at then finished off. "But the files on the server that had been edited we believe had been done months ago." He frowned and then picked up the CD-R with the edited files. And then passed them over to John. John took the CD and placed it into his briefcase. "Okay, so we know file's have been edited? Is there any way to narrow it down to what has been changed?" "Doubtful, it might be possible but without the original files it'll be hard going." Paul looked tapped his fingers on the monitor. John shook his head. "Do your best, and I want you to monitor access to the network" He looked at his watch. "Damn it's getting late." He left the office and walked along the corridor back to the Intelligence offices. he then handed the CD to Val. "Deacon, compare what's on this to the base manifests, supply lists, criminal records, - everything." Val looked to him. "I was about to go to join the party...sir..." "Well there'll be other parties, once the analysts get in tomorrow I want them to start work on this too, however you're to keep your mouth shut, I don't want this leaking out of the Intel Offices, I'm quite sure the base personnel don't want to know that they're all under investigation." He stared at Val he knew she would keep quiet and he was one of the few people that he 'trusted' not that he trusted people. Val nodded and then walked to her desk. John then left his office and then walked down the corridors down to where the party was going on. He checked his shoulder holster as he walked, his Glock 17 was there, he didn't like shoulder holsters mainly because you couldn't withdraw a gun as fast as a belt holster, but it did a good job of concealing his weapon, plus the way his jacket was made also hid it well. He door to the rec-room opened easily, he could see the party in full swing, he stood around looking for anybody he knew, though he knew most of the faces mainly through trailing through the base manifest and familiarising himself with faces that were on this base. He saw a table with a person often referred to as Trigger. He walked over to the table and sat down. The others at the table looked to him. "I presume this seat isn't taken?"
  20. Do any of you guys know where the sounds files for the weapons in UFO are located? I can only think of them being located in the 'Sample.cat' files, please! if you know please tell me!! If your not sure about what I'm involved in it's basically a UFO mod for Operation Flashpoint (Similar to the Halflife mod) and I want the original sound files for the weapons and if possible everything in X-Com UFO so I can incorperate them into the Operation Enemy Unknown mod for that 'authentic sound' feel to it plus it would be nice to hear the X-Com rifle in first person So any ideas?
  21. Yes I've played Rogue spear - very nice game More detailed grenades? how do mean? Doors? Yes in the Resistance you can open and close doors. Better indoor enviroments? Whoa!!!!! Maybe one day, but for now, you're going to have to live with outdoor enviroments and limited indoor enviroments...but maybe one day, one day...
  22. Yeah, um, I have a question...does the Laser rifle in X-Com have a Square boxy type thingy like - http://mysite.freeserve.com/johnpickering40/laser1.jpg Or should it be a rounded faring? I'm not quite sure as there's noting to indicate oneway or another, I suppose I'll just stick with square "box" faring for the Laser Rifle, as you can see it's under development, and like the X-Com rifle is untextured and unscripted. Though X-Com rifle wise I have tried to script it but havn't had much success (I have a fun error msg that comes up when I try and run it ingame... ) But it hasn't been forgotten, just given up on for the time being...until I figure out how to script mod's in flashpoint... Oh and I reckon it'll be possible (just a right bugger) to create a Sectoid model as I uncompressed the .pbo (addon) file for a trooper and found out that it's not too 'hard' by that I mean that that the Sectoid wil be a kind of 'mini-me' (Sorry just had to use the Austin Powers Reference ) With a distored head! However the other aliens that arn't humanoid (including Snakemen and Floaters) will be a long time coming. And the Skyranger is in the pipe, I'm just workig on conept sketches, however if any of you guys have modding skills (creating models, textures or scripting) your help would be welcome!!!!!
  23. Cool, thanks ooda! And Loonie - I joke, I joke
  24. Well I've started work on a Operation Flashpoint mod, called Operation Enemy Unknown, and is a mod based on UFO. What I hope to acheive is a full weapon set, with weapons ranging from X-Com Pistol to the Heavy Plasma, HWP's, SkyRanger and Interceptors and to complement them UFO's that will be able to be flown by the player, aswell as 'static' crashed UFO's. X-Com uniform's that will be based on uniforms used by Special Forces and then Personnal armour, and if we're lucky powered armour. And I suppose to make it complete aliens - and I think we'll be starting off with the Muton and the Etheral, other aliens will be much more difficult to implement, plus I'm going to try and figure out if it's possible to create underground bases... And to make this interesting a Campaign where you will rise through the ranks and will be put through your paces in missions from shooting down UFO's to Terror missions That's what I hope to achieve but don't get you hopes up, I'm a lazy bugger and this a project that will be put together in my spare time, but just to show you that this isn't just a dream, here's some eyecandy http://mysite.freeserve.com/johnpickering40/title1.jpg Just the title... http://mysite.freeserve.com/johnpickering40/rifle1.jpg Here we have a picture of the Venerable X-Com Rifle (Untextured) http://mysite.freeserve.com/johnpickering40/rifle2.jpg And another one http://mysite.freeserve.com/johnpickering40/rifle02view.jpg And the Oxygen View of it. I just need to texture and script the rifle and then game test it . Opinions, questions, offers of help and money (All major credit cards accepted )
  25. LOL!! yes I know, that wouldn't surprise me...you know it wouldn't surprise me if in fact the rabbit from 'Monty Python's Search for the Holy Grail' is actually Drake that by some bizarre twist of fate was thrown back in time... Which if true then Drake should be listed as either MIA or KIA depending on if we can prove that Drake has been sent back in time and blown up by the 'Holy Hand Grenade'
