From what he said in his post, it would appear that he only has the starting base at the moment, as he only has 5 buildings (unless he's captured more bases but not connected them with tracks).
To research Basic Human Weapons, you need to have a Basic Weapons Lab (or something like that). I think the lab has to be researched by the Laputa lab? Then you build on (or more) in a base, & research Basic Human Weapons. After that you have to research Human Firearms, which allows you to research Blueprints for the various human weapon types (like submachine guns, Assault Rifles, Sniper Rifles, Shotguns, etc). When you've researched the relevant Blueprint you can build the gun & any "normal " ammo it uses. IIRC Human Firearms gives you the ability to make Desert Eagles in the Basic Weapon Factories, 9mm ammo, 5.56 ammo & 7.76 (?) ammo in the Ordinance Factories.
Resources will be delivered from a province to the capital of that country for free. If you've only got provinces in Central Europe, then you won't need tracks. If you've got provinces outside of Central Europe (like one in France, or Denmark, etc) then you need to build a track to the capital of that country. If you don't have the capital of that country, then to get the resources from the province, you need to build a track to it. Eg. You've got all the CE provinces, you've also got one of the French provinces (but not Paris), if you want the resources to be collected from the French provinces, you either need to build a track to that province from Stutgart, or capture Paris & build a track there from Stutgart.
I've not really had any time to spend in UFO:AS, but from what I looked at in the bases & research, it looks a lot nicer. I'm going to have to practise my combat skills again... My local GAME might have it tomorrow, HMV probably won't & Virgin definitely won't. *sigh* Edit: Yay, it's installing...
Well, XP's installed, & it still doesn't work... What am I doing wrong? Edit: 'Course I've not installed DirectX, so that might have something to do with it... Edit #2: Installed the latest graphics drivers & all is well...
*fails to avoid reading lots of nice things* La la la la la la la la la la la la la la la I'm not listening, er, reading... I ordered a copy of WinXP which should arrive tomorrow, and I've booked Friday off work...
Don't start... I would still be using 98SE, but my parents gave my wife a pc with ME on it & I couldn't get my 98SE PC to see it on the network, so I "upgraded" mine to ME as well... Kret, as I posted on that other thread, I'm not entirely sure where to put the 2 MS files...
Thanks Kret. One last question, I've dl'd the MS file, but I'm not entirely sure where to put the two files. I've tried putting them in the UFO:AS Demo folder & the Windows directory, but still no luck. Any ideas anyone?
The Demo won't run on my pc (WinME), it comes up with the following error: RegisterClass Error: Can't register window class "wndclassSimplest". Perhaps you are running under WIN9x with UNICODE and you don't have MSLU. Ok, so I am (kinda) running Win9x, but what's MSLU, how do I get it & will the full game run on WinME? If it doesn't, I'm (needless to say) not going to be a happy camper... *looks at requirements*
