Distribution
Morelmen can be encountered in any terrain that has not been swallowed up by the Biomass, and they can be encountered from the earliest stages of the game. They are human sized, so they are small enough to be encountered in a base interior.
Tactical notes
Morelmen are capable of using most human and Reticulan weapons in the game. In the early missions they will be armed with pistols, human assault rifles, and, on occasion, sniper rifles. As the game develops, they will begin using more powerful human and Reticulan weapons.
The amount of danger a morelman poses to your squad and the tactics you should use against it depend on what weapon it is carrying. Do not totally underestimate an unarmed morelman because it has a punch that can render a soldier unconscious in a matter of 10-15 seconds.
The good news is that a morelman has no armour, which means that it is highly vulnerable to your weapons.
Morelmen can be captured alive, and they are small enough to be carried. A morelman will become unconscious when its health is reduced to 400 hit points or below, 25% of the starting total.
